The BNO Visa allows the main applicant (BNO holder) and family members to stay in the UK to work, study or use NHS medical services. Applicants' children under the age of 18 can attend public schools for free, while children between the ages of 16 and 19 can receive education and training.
You can apply for settlement after five years of residence, and you can formally apply to become a British citizen after one more year of residence in the UK. 2. Documents proving the ability to live in the UK for more than 6 months, including:
- Bank deposit certificate
- Investment Certificate
- Educational Institution Scholarships
- Proof of accommodation provided by family or friends
- UK employment certificate (including self-employment income)
- You will continue to receive regular income during your stay in the UK, such as salary, investments, pensions, etc. Letters from friends and family indicate that you will use money to support your life
＊If the applicant has lived in the UK for more than 1 year, there is no need to provide proof of financial resources.
3. Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate
A TB test certificate is required to apply for a BNO visa, and you need to go to 5 Hong Kong clinics designated by the British Home Office for tuberculosis testing. People who entered the UK using LOTR earlier do not need to provide TB test results when applying for a BNO visa.
- Have resided for 5 years and intend to continue to live in the UK
- Meet the length of stay requirements (the total number of days away from home in the previous 5 years at the time of application cannot exceed 180 days)
- No breach of UK immigration laws
- Pass the naturalization test Life in the UK Test
- Meet English proficiency requirements (equivalent to CEFR level B1, or have a recognized academic qualification)
- Spouse (requires marriage certificate), unmarried partner (provide proof of living together for at least two years)
- Children under 18 years old
- Adult children born on July 1, 1997, including their spouses and minor children (birth certificate/adoption certificate/court documents required)
- Other highly dependent family members
*Underage children need to enter the country together with their parents without special reasons. If applying as a family, the entire family must enter together. BNO holders need to apply first and obtain an application number, and then other family members will fill in the BNO holder's application number when applying.

- Have not been away from the UK for more than 180 days in any 12 months within 5 years of residence in the UK
After 12 months of successfully applying for permanent residency, you can apply for British citizenship.
As long as you have applied for BNO before, you can still get a replacement BNO even if it has expired or been lost. If you were born before 1997, you can reapply if your parents have filled in your name in the ""included child"" column of your passport.
